Job Description

The GIS Analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining map and field data collection services, through both web and mobile applications (examples include Survey 123, Collector for ArcGIS, Operations Dashboard, and Geoform). The incumbent will create ArcGIS Online applications perform high level spatial analysis for various county departments and support the complex database developing effort of General Plan Update and similar projects. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT Riverside County Information Technology is a full-service provider of IT services. RCIT is an Internal Service Fund (ISF) department with 100 reliance on revenues received from services. RCIT offers comprehensive service and support for desktops, printers, printer services, servers, and data storage. RCIT offers comprehensive systems support for email and messaging, smart phones, tablets, expert technical support, and production and test environments. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES Perform data modeling and integration with spatial layers. Perform quality control processes on GIS and attribute information. Consult with end users, clients, and customers to determine GIS and system information needs. Work with customers at all organizational levels in project development develop project work plansschedules and monitor project resources including staff time, vendor work, and budget targets. Prepare technical documentation including data specifications, user requirements, and procedures. Create cartographic and other products using GIS software, relational and object databases utilizing plotters, printers, digitizers, scanners, and internet applications. Operate a variety of GIS software including Oracle, Informax, Windows Professional, and ARC Info. Provide public information and assistance to a variety of internal and external customers of GIS products and services. Maintain, update, and develop information attributes and spatial layers. RECRUITING GUIDELINES OPTION I Education None required. Experience Four years of sub-professional or professional GIS experience. (Completion of GIS, automated mapping, land surveying, geography, cartography, or computer science related coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to two years of the required experience on the basis of 30 semester or 45 quarter units equaling one year of experience.) OPTION II Education Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in computer science, geography, cartography, or a closely related field to the assignment.
