Job Description:

Exploitation and analysis of remotely sensed geospatial data for a variety of applications but with a primary focus on space-based laser altimetry research and development. More specifically, contribute to the satellite data analysis and product evaluation for innovative science discoveries using new computational approaches

Responsibilities

  • Participate in satellite geospatial data product algorithm development and integration.
  • Analyze space-based laser altimetry data for quality assessment and scientific discovery.
  • Develop data fusion techniques for multiple space-based data resources to produce global geospatial products.
  • Document results.

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer or information science, geoscience or other applied sciences. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in working with remotely sensed data, and data products.  Applicant should have proficiency in Matlab, Python, ENVI and Unix shell scripting or other relevant computational language. Applicant must be willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized, and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The applicant should have experience with software packages for research projects. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills, and innovation. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Regular and punctual attendance is required. US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced coursework, graduate degree or significant experience related to lidar remote sensing applications and space-based altimetry. Demonstrated experience and familiarity in working large data volumes, data registration and geospatial data products.  Applicant should have prior experience in geospatial application solutions using novel algorithm techniques and working knowledge of processing, exploitation and dissemination workflows. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills. History of publication in relevant journals and/or industry conferences.  Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a 3.5 in major coursework or higher.

 

Salary Range

$69,500-$80,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.
