We are looking for a Graduate in Computer Science, Physics, Maths or other relevant discipline for our Applications and Services team.

The primary role of the selected candidate will be to contribute to the development of environmental and climate data products from Earth Observation and other sources, which include algorithm development and implementation.

The candidate will be involved in projects currently starting and related to the fields of climate change and air pollution in lobelia, isardSAT's applied technologies unit - www.lobelia.earth.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Research, design and/or implementation of algorithms with focus on spatio-temporal data analysis tasks involving for example climate datasets (i.e. downscaling, bias adjustment, definition of indicators, etc.)

  • Strategy development for the field of machine learning and data analysis with focus on isardSAT’s applications

  • Participation in the development of related proposals.

  • Promotion of collaborative research with interdisciplinary team.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • Related science degree (Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Maths, Meteorology)

  • Research experience on large datasets in industry or academia

  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries and toolkits

  • A focus on problem-solving, with an eye on performance aspects

  • Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team

  • Good oral and communication skills

  • Ability to effectively work with tight deadlines in a logical manner

  • A proactive nature and great attention to detail

  • An interest in Earth Science

  • Proficient in English

  • A (down-to-earth) passion for technology and techniques, and love for getting the results out to the real world
